MATTHEW WEST | UNASHAMED
We open on a roof location overlooking the city. It's early evening. Matthew stands, looking over the edge down towards the city below. The camera holds on his face as the music starts. He sings while looking out, almost introspectively. This is the personal opener. As the pre-chorus begins, he leans back and starts walking as the camera moves backwards with him. Just before the chorus hits we see him arrive to a band setup and walk up to the microphone. The chorus downbeat hits and he's now locked in with the band. Speakers around them in various shapes and sizes face outwards towards the city.
The early sunset performance runs up through the beginning of the bridge. We embrace a classic music video aesthetic. Energetic performances, sweeping shots, and beautiful visuals, city in the background. Once the bridge hits we transition to our night performance look. Right after sunset we see a whole different color palette of cooler colors. Giant torch spotlights shoot towards the sky reinforced by subtle fog/atmosphere. The lights move and flare towards the camera at moments.
Then we begin incorporating new angles from afar. Distant zooms from a parking garage roof down the street, street level angles looking up towards the lights, through the windows of a hotel room across the street, etc. Based on final location, with 2-3 additional cinematographers at pre-scouted locations, we create various "character" viewpoints throughout the area. Perspectives of this moment where Matthew is broadcasting his message to the world.
As the song comes to a close, Matthew delivers the final few lines and our camera pushes out towards the skyline. In the distance (via VFX) we incorporate "UNASHAMED" whether it's on the side of a building or on a post-VFX billboard in frame. Something to tie in the album branding.
